Ebonised oak footed bowls set

A set of two shallow bowls in blackened ebonised English oak.
Turned on the lathe from storm felled oak locally sourced in Cheshire.
The wood blackened thanks to a chemical reaction triggered by iron mordant reacting to tannins in the wood.

Sealed with food safe natural beeswax and pure mineral oil salve.
To maintain their dark shade, I would recommend not to use these for liquids and
only dust them with a dry cloth.
If you choose to wash them with water, note that the colour will fade.
For dry food or display.
